Architecture in Type,
Type in Architecture
This project is a type study of my visual findings in Amsterdam, Netherlands. By observing the surroundings signage, street life and architecture in Amsterdam breed a lot of ideas.
Working under the teachings of David Bennewith.
A day in Amsterdam, documenting through photos and visual emphemera, I was inspired to develop a printed piecee that took in the surroundings.
I developed a path that combined architecture and type. Exploring how type lived on store fronts, house numbers, street signs, it was fascinating to me how it all blended together.
The outcome of the Type in Architecture project was expressed on see-through white vellum paper at a local paper shop. The type was printed in a stark black in Grotesque MT. This piece serves a typography study of architecture and type.
