This semi-annual magazine publication is 100% created by students at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. A small team of graphic designers, artists, and writers work together to come up with an encompassing theme each semester. After the theme is selected, each member contributes to their own section. When complete, the print production begins. Using the resources at the Communication Technology building, Pepper Magazine is printed by the Cross-Media Graphics students. Every semester brings new challenges with color, binding, paper stock, poster inserts, etc. My contribution to Pepper magazine has been throughout three magazine editions: EIGHT: "The Mind," TEN: "Issue 10" and ELEVEN: "The Time Before Now."
When Pepper Magazine began, it was a small group of graphic designers starting a large campus-wide publication. Since it's beginning, it has grown into a publication that draws in the entire campus with varying majors and interests. Participating in this passion project helps to grow ideas that would never normally reach an audience
Each of the editions that I have participated in have started from an committee-chosen idea and resulted various interpretations of what the theme really means. It's when you combine the abstract ideas that the magic is made.
The Pepper Organization and the Cross Communication Management students oversee that each piece is completed to a great printed standard with offset printing techniques used for large scale printing. Each edition of Pepper Magazine turns out to be professional quality through design and print.
